What's up Bordeaux ?

H i  G u y s !

Today, I would like to present you another beautiful French city which is Bordeaux. I went there a couple of times during holidays, and as a result of my several visits I can assert that I really like its atmosphere !

One main reason to go there: to stroll the most graceful streets of France, eat well and drink better. Bordeaux is really famous for its wine… which is of course an important part of the French culture. Another reason is that Bordeaux gabbed the title of Europe’s best destination in 2015, so what else? You just need some free days!

There’s never a bad time to visit Bordeaux. Autumns and winters are generally mild, and may even be sunny. Spring is lovely and summer may be as hot as anywhere in France.

To my mind, one of my favourite place there is the “Miroir d’eau”, a great expanse of shallow water, reflecting the famous “Palais de la Bourse”. The effect at night, when floodlit, is mesmerising (have a look on the picture below). This place is perfect for a lunch picnic during a sunny day. Furthermore, all along the riverfront of the Garonne you can easily have a walking or a running!

What about the wine topic ?

If you plan to have a short break in this city, you have to book a fancy wine trip out of town. The Tourism Office is full of information and offers this kind of trips. It allows to avoid making your own arrangements, and just enjoy a well-organized day, getting you a vineyard ride in a coach and two good wine château visits (and of course, it provides a decent tasting!)

Trips are daily from April to November, on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays for the rest of the year. The meeting is on the Tourism Office and cost 38€ (around 30pounds).

Good to know : The flight time from London to Bordeaux is around 90 minutes.

This article is special because in order to have more details about this city, I have interviewed my friend Lucile, who lived in Bordeaux since 3 years, so let’s have a look on its idea of Bordeaux and great places to go…

-      Where is your favourite place to have a drink with some friends?

"Bordeaux is a very nice city to live in. When I’m in town with friends, we used to take a drink in « The house of parliament », an English bar where you can find a lot of different beers and the music is nice. If you want to see a rugby match or a surf competition around beers, that’s the place to be!

The "Place du Parlement" and its nightlife

-      What about cool places to have lunches and dinners?

When I meet my Spanish and Latinos friends, we used to go to « El Chivito », a good place to order tapas and the best sangria in the world! To have a good dinner, I suggest you « Le Bistrot Régent », where you can find French food at a good price so this is the perfect place to go with friends when you are student.

-      Where is the place you have a crush for?

It is certainly « le marché Saint Michel ». It’s a market in a little district of Bordeaux, where you can find a lot of fabrics at very good price and also all of the fruits of the world! When I go there, I feel like I’m not in France anymore and that’s a very good way to relax."

Thank you Lucile for these particular places you advise us!

A final question, could you say a little bit more about you..?

"Hi everyone! I am Lucile, currently I am studying fashion in Bordeaux. So as you can imagine, I design and create clothes, this is all I am passionate about. I find it so amazing to create my own clothes and maybe yours in the future.. My artistic universe is made by the ocean, the human soul and freedom. If I should tell you about my style, It could be casual-sporty or sportswear. I also used to draw, paint, take some photographs, play piano and be part of a theatre company when I was in university. And if I can tell you something about being creative, is be curious!!! If you want to see more of my work and discover my universe, you can find me on Instagram at Capulum
